recorders are no exception. With Sony’s new
MZ-M200 Hi-MD recorder, the successor
model to the MZ-M100 Hi-MD recorder, Sony
takes Hi-MD to a higher level with the intro-
duction of more intuitive recording fea-
tures, easier navigation, and a more
ergonomic design – while delivering the
same high-quality CD sound and the conven-
ience of recording on the MD format. The
MZ-M200 model is the ideal field recorder
for radio journalists, musicians, songwriters,
and all types of pro-audio applications. This
next generation recorder is now Macintosh®
compatible and comes equipped for the
field with a stereo microphone, earbud
headphones, 1-line backlit remote control
unit, USBuploading software, a recharge-
able battery, a carrying pouch, an AC power
adaptor and a 1GB Hi-MD disc.

Compatible with both Hi-MD and Standard
MiniDisc Media–Hi-MD
recorders are backward compatible with the MD media. In Hi-MD recording mode, you can store up to 34 hours of audio on the supplied Hi-MD disc and up to 10 hours of audio on a
standard MD disc.

Data File Storage–Allows you to store and
transfer presentations, documents, spreadsheets
and photos.

Conventional MD USB Upload–Allows uploading
MD content via USB to your PC (excluding con-
tent transferred from the PC in Net MD mode or
contents purchased through EMD services). Plus
you can make MD recordings that can be played
back on MD decks.

Mac Upload–Allows you to upload Hi-MD self-recording content from a Hi-MD media to a Macintosh computer.
Mac Download1–Allows you to download Hi-MD self-recording content from a Macintosh computer to a Hi-MD disc.

Clock Stamping–Abuilt-in clock registers the date and time of recordings. Date and time appear as titles when content is uploaded to a PC or Macintosh.

Bright Organic EL (Electro Luminescent) Display–Shows current status of recording and playback
features including recording levels, mode, battery power, etc.

Ability to Record from Multiple Sources (Mic/Line-in)–Use the line-in jack to transfer and archive legacy formats such as tapes to low cost 1GB Hi-MD media or use the microphone input for self-recordings or field interviews. Choose a maximum recording time of up to 34 hours or up to 1 1/2 hours of uncompressed/lossless quality depending on specific needs.

recording levels from your microphone or line

Dynamic Normalizer–Provides a uniform
volume level for tracks that may have been
recorded at different volume levels on the
same disc, eliminating the need to adjust
the volume of each track.

Self-recording Upload Feature–When transfer-
ring a Hi-MD recording to a computer, you’ll have
the option to save in .WAVformat in a designated
folder on your hard drive, providing you with the
flexibility to import the files into almost any
application where you can edit and process
the recordings.
