This magnificent
program provides a look at the emperors and politics, art and architecture,
philosophy and popular culture of ancient Rome. Through the use
of lively images and historical artwork, this set reveals life in
Rome through the eyes of the ancient Romans. Part One is entitled
A History of Ancient Rome: The Republic, and it traces Roman history
from Romulus to the fall of the Republic, with a look at such figures
as Julius Caesar, Pompey, Mark Antony, and Augustus. Part Two is
called From the Roman Empire to the Renaissance, and it examines
the magnificent legacy of this era that included the calendar, the
legal system, and the Latin language.
The CD-ROM version
of The Road to Ancient Rome program combines the original video
title with hundreds of new interactive elements to create an exciting
new multimedia title that will make the subject of ancient history
come alive. In addition to featuring the original narrative and
visuals, the program also includes a comprehensive glossary of important
terms, an encyclopedia of related subject areas, key maps, and historical
timelines. In addition, the CD-ROM version of the title features
dozens of ancillary activities such as anagrams, puzzles, educational
games, and classroom projects, all related to the history of the
ancient land. The school edition includes two matching exercises,
two true and false quizzes, and a test of multiple choice questions,
with a scoring feature that enables teachers to view, save, print,
edit, and delete student test scores. An additional function allows
teachers to print curriculum materials to create worksheets and
assignments. |
