The CD-ROM version of the Thomas S. Klise Company Parts of Speech series defines and explains the rules of usage for all the major parts of speech. In addition to an original narrative and colorful artwork, the CD-ROM Parts of Speech program contains numerous interactive features that will serve to elucidate the parts of speech for students of many different ages. Each of the program's six sections includes numerous exercises and questions that will test a student's knowledge of the parts of speech, and a unique scoring system for test results. In addition, the CD-ROM features dozens of ancillary activities, such as educational games, puzzles, and classroom projects. The school version allows teaching material to be modified and printed to create worksheets, assignments, and quizzes. The program includes the following six units:
  1. Introducing the Noun
    This unit defines the noun and each of its various forms: abstract and concrete, proper and common.

  4. Discovering the Adjective and Adverb
    This unit shows how to identify the important modifiers known as adjectives and adverbs that so enrich our language.
  5. Encountering the Conjunction and Preposition
    Conjunctions (coordinating, correlative, and subordinating) connect, and prepositions relate elements in a sentence.
  6. Understanding the Interjection
    After providing a definition of the interjection, the series ends with a recap of the ways in which each part of speech works.

We can't make spelling easy -- no one can do that with our wonderful, yet awkward, language -- but it will, through famous quotations and animated visuals, bring interest and appeal to the topic. The activities section features numerous games such as Dear, Deer Me!, which lets the user complete puzzles to uncover various homonyms, homophones, and homographs. Sit for a Spell requires the student to catch the correctly spelled words as they fall from the sky.

Other activities ask users to spell the names of all the United States and to correctly spell weather-related terms. Play alone, or with others, in trying to attain the highest score in Spell Bound.
